Salty Awards – Charms & Trophies

Charm Awards

It is believed the Salty Sisters charm system is unique among women’s sailing groups. We are very proud of the ingenuity and thoroughness shown by our early members who put it in effect. The following provides an overview of how these awards are earned.

Categories of Charms for Salty Sisters Events

  • Charm Series
Races and groups of races throughout the year are designated as Charm Series. First place, second place and third place racers receive charm awards.
  • Participation Series
Racers receive charms for 100 percent participation in the series.
  • Training Series
Racers receive charms for 100 percent participation in the series.

Race Committee receives charms for 100 percent participation in any type of series.

Florida Women’s Sailing Association (FWSA) Charms

FWSA Interclub racers and Race Committee receive charms for their participation in events hosted locally by the Salty Sisters at the SPSC and events hosted by other FWSA clubs.

Special Charms

Individual charms that are awarded for specific events include:

Note that this charm can only be awarded once!

to help another person in distress on the water at FWSA and Salty events.

Skipper’s Hat 1971

To be eligible  for the Skipper’s Hat charm, a Salty Sister who sails regularly in crewed boats shall be proposed for testing by the Skipper’s Hat Committee.
